Limited
support is available by contacting the helpdesk through the online
http://helpdesk.udmercy.edu system.
In general, you are responsible for your own personal computer.
While ITS will provide guidance, no guarantees are provided. ITS
will ensure your network port is working properly for network and
internet access; anything more is your responsibility.
For hardware related matters, ITS will recommend contacting the
vendor from whom you purchased your product for assistance. For
software related matters, ITS will recommend contacting the software
publisher.
The most predominant issue residents face, is virus and spyware
infections. Having a quality solution in place with daily updates
is essential when connected to a "public" network. ITS provides
resident students a 1 year licensed copy of McAfee Virus Protection
available by presenting both your university ID and Prox card to
the ITS Helpdesk in Fisher 230.
For some issues, ITS will require you to bring your computer to
the Fisher 230 offices. On-site support is not available.
